Jethro Johnson

Specialist Advisor

Jethro is a renowned academic based at Oxford University, England and a world leader in microbiome research. He specialises in using multi-omic and computational approaches to identify the molecular basis of host-gut microbiome interactions and understand their impact on health and disease. He is Deputy Director of the world leading, Oxford Centre for Microbiome Studies, and is an Innovation Track Principal Investigator at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Oxford University.

Jethro has worked all over the world with leading experts producing groundbreaking research in the effects of temperature on microbially-mediated digestion in ectothermic herbivores, next-generation sequencing and computational genomic approaches to characterize the human microbiome. Jethro has had a particular focus on the role of the microbiome in metabolic disease and has worked on the type 2 diabetes arm of the NIH Integrative Human Microbiome Project. He joined the Kennedy Institute in 2020 to establish his research group and support the running of the Oxford Centre for Microbiome Studies.
