How to start your mornings off on the right foot
Whether it’s wanting to hit ‘snooze’ on your alarm for those vital extra 10 minutes of rest, burning your rounds of toast, or just getting stuck in typical weekday traffic on your way to work. Our mornings never seem to go to plan. Sometimes, however, that inconvenience can be traced back to long before you (begrudgingly) have to wake up. Here are some ways in which you can mentally prepare for the mornings, and take every day by the scruff of the neck.
The internet will still be there tomorrow
As it’s 2025, our world is completely dominated by screens with one purpose: to grab your attention and never let go. You may think that you’re looking at social media to learn new information about what’s going on in the world. But, most of the time, you’ll find yourself endlessly scrolling out of fear of missing out. The reality is you won’t miss out on anything. All that information will be when you wake up, so try and hold off using your phone until you feel awake enough. After all, looking at your emails can stress you out at any time of the day, never mind when you’ve just opened your eyes for the first time!
And while we appreciate you paying a visit to our blog, if you’re reading this past your bedtime, it’s too late. Get yourself off to bed and we’ll see you later.
Keep yourself hydrated before sleep
One of the keys to a good night’s sleep is body temperature regulation, which can be improved by drinking water before going to bed. However, be wary of your intake, as drinking too much water can produce adverse effects such as multiple trips to the toilet during the night, interrupting your sleeping pattern and setting you up for potential feelings of anxiety and depression.
Check your eating habits
We’ve all been there, sitting at home, late at night, watching TV when suddenly, you start to feel a little peckish. Thinking to yourself that “anything will do”, you rummage through your fridge, freezer and cupboards in search of something to tide you over. Don’t do this. Instead, look to fill yourself up during tea time until breakfast. Eating late can lead to a poor quality of sleep. Experts recommend that you should have your final meal of the day two to four hours before you go to sleep.
You could be working out all wrong
If you’re an early bird and you like to get your work out in before you get to work, there’s a chance you could be doing it all wrong. Allow time to properly prepare for the day that lies ahead. That means waking up, fuelling yourself and warming up for your first actions of the day.
Go Bananas (no, we’re being serious)
This goes hand in hand with preparing for your workout. Don’t fall into the trap of getting your breakfast on the go; you’ll be denying the nutrients you need to be at your best. Look to integrate fruit into your diet if you haven’t already, especially in the mornings. The best fruit to start with is the Banana, which elevates your serotonin levels, improves memory and helps you maintain your sugar levels as well. There’s a reason why students are recommended to consume bananas during exam season, and that shouldn’t change as we get older.
Supplements can always help
As we all know very well, not everyone has the time in the mornings to go through their ideal routine. However, what we can always do is make a start on changes that will end up for the better. Try adding Daily Fibre Blend Cognito to your daily routine, which includes a complex blend of Lion’s Mane Extract (Mushroom) and Inulin (Chicory) to help improve your cognitive function?
